Permanent contact adhesive size for gold leaf.

Permacoll - Size offers far more flexibility than oil sizes with their long drying and short working times.
Permacoll - Size dries within 15 to 30 minutes, depending upon thickness and remaining porosity of surface.
Gold leaf (transfert) can be applied hours or even days later. This product is designed for the attainment of decorative surfaces that are not exposed to the weather or exessive wear. It is non burnishable.

Permacoll - Size is recommended as an adhesive for gold leaf on all types of non-porous surfaces, smooth or textured.

Uses include the preparation of frames, architectural ornaments etc....

Available in clear , black and red.

Simple gilding with Kölner Permacoll Size

 

Application

 

Substrates must be dry, free of grease and dust.
First impregnate absorbent surfaces such as plaster and wood with Sealer 123a.
This impregnating agent is diluted with tap water in the ratio sealer: water 1:2 to 1:3.
When the sealer is dry, the Permacoll Size is applied in one layer with a soft-haired brush.
Surfaces that do not absorb, such as varnished wood or plastics, can be treated directly with Permacoll Size.
After a drying time of approximately 1 hour, any type of gold leaf can be applied.
Once applied the gold leaves are lightly rubbed with a dot of cotton wool.
Permacoll size is supplied in colorless, black and red.
The red Permacoll is extremely suitable for easily simulating a polished gilding.
